Swarovski

Swarovski is based in Wattens, Austria and was established by Daniel Swarovski in 1895 with the help of financiers Armand Kosman, and Franz Weis. It is a leading top brand for producing lead glass (crystals).  Swarovski crystals aren’t actually crystals, but are a form of glass created a with patented process. It was established by Daniel Swarovski to make crystals more accessible; a “diamond for everyone”. Compared to other glass jewellery products, Swarovski uses higher quality materials. The process of creating even one crystal is also complicated.  Hence, the expensive prices of Swarovski crystals.  The company is split into three major industry areas: the Swarovski Crystal Business, that primarily produces lead glass jewellery (commonly called crystal jewellery) and accessories; Swarovski Optik, which produces optical instruments such as telescopes, telescopic sights for rifles, and binoculars; last and not least Tyrolit, a manufacturer of grinding, sawing, drilling, and dressing tools, as well as a supplier of tools and machines. Today, Swarovski Crystal Business is the highest grossing business unit with a global reach of approximately 2,800 stores in around 170 countries, more than 27,000 employees.
